EYP Curriculum Coordinator

As an Early Years Curriculum Coordinator, you will ensure that the school’s curricula remain aligned with IB program requirements, facilitating inquiry-based, transdisciplinary learning.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain alignment with the IB Early Years curriculum and ensure program
  • integrity, integrating play-based, developmentally appropriate learning approaches.
  • Lead curriculum evaluation, accreditation preparation, and ongoing program reflection for the Early Years department.
  • Promote academic honesty and research-based, child-centered teaching practices.
  • Facilitate professional development and teacher training in IB philosophy, Early Years pedagogy, planning, and play-based learning.
  • Publish and manage the Early Years Program of Inquiry (POI).
  • Collaborate with the HoD to review and provide feedback on teachers’ planning, learning environments, and pedagogy.
  • Manage correspondence with authorizing bodies such as IB.
  • Conduct classroom observations, providing constructive feedback and coaching to Early Years teachers.
  • Prepare and release class timetables and communicate them to teachers and parents.
  • Support HoD in planning annual and internal calendars for the Early Years department and communicate key information to stakeholders.
  • Recommend curriculum enhancements, teaching resources, and program improvements to HoD and Head of School.
  • Oversee screening, readiness assessments, and developmental progress tracking for Early Years learners.
  • Guide teachers in preparing student portfolios, ensuring quality and developmentally appropriate documentation for parents.
  • Coordinate placement of new Early Years LSS students in liaison with the LSS Coordinator.
  • Oversee learning support services within the Early Years department and coordinate interventions as needed.
  • Support HoD in budgeting, procurement, and resource management for the Early Years department.
  • Assist in the planning, execution, and quality control of Early Years events, assemblies, and Units in Action.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and prepare the Early Years team for IB evaluations and other accreditation processes.
  • Ensure all processes, documentation, and resources are maintained and ready for IB self-evaluation and accreditation.
  • Keep management and HoD informed of updates or changes to Early
  • Years curriculum or IB PYP curriculum standards and practices.
  • Ensure timely communication to parents regarding children’s learning and development progress.
  • Participate in recruitment, induction, and mentoring of Early Years teaching staff.


Minimum Requirements 

  • Bachelors Degree in Education or equivalent Teaching Qualification
  • Training in Special Educational Needs, Learner support, ITESOL and inclusion is an added advantage
  • Masters degree is an added advantage
  • 5 years’ experience teaching in an IB curriculum school
