Pool Attendant

The Pool Attendant is responsible for ensuring the swimming pool water is clean, safe, properly treated and maintained according to health and safety standards.   

Responsibilities

  • Test pool water at least 2–3 times daily for chlorine, pH, alkalinity, and calcium hardness levels.
  • Adjust and treat water by adding appropriate chemicals in the correct quantities.
  • Ensure chlorine levels remain within recommended health standards.
  • Monitor and operate filtration, circulation, and pumping systems.
  • Backwash filters and clean strainers as per schedule.
  • Maintain safe storage and handling of pool chemicals.
  • Keep accurate records of daily water test results and chemical usage.
  • Immediately report abnormal water conditions or contamination.
  • Skim debris from the pool surface daily.
  • Vacuum and brush pool walls and floor regularly.
  • Ensure the pool deck and surrounding areas are clean and dry.
  • Inspect drainage systems and ensure proper water flow.
  • Monitor swimmers to ensure compliance with pool safety rules.
  • Prevent unsafe conduct around the pool.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies.
  • Ensure lifesaving and rescue equipment is accessible and functional.
  • Conduct daily inspection of pumps, filters, and chemical dosing systems.
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions immediately.
  • Ensure all pool signage and safety instructions are clearly displayed.
  • Maintain daily pool maintenance and water treatment logs.
  • Record incidents, maintenance issues, and corrective actions taken.
  • Ensure compliance with local public health and safety regulations.

  • Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum O-Level certificate (or equivalent).
  • Certification in Pool Water Treatment / Pool Plant Operations (added advantage).
  • Basic swimming ability.
  • First Aid & CPR certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of safe chemical handling procedures.
  • Physically fit and able to work outdoors.
